A commercial space that will be situated in the Philippines. Kawayan, a Tagalog word for Bamboo. To celebrate sustainably sourced materials that are available in the area and promoting local artisans, featuring Filipino craft traditions, creating multi-zone dining environment that feels cohesive from every angle. To design a space that is welcoming, warm and rich in texture feeling the culture the moment some one walks through the door.

The design move in this space is the full-height bamboo wall cladding - floor to ceiling running full length of the dining room on both sides. The structural presence of this is intentional - it transforms the wall from a boundary into an environment.

The cove lighting running full perimeter of the ceiling is one of the project’s most considered details. It casts the continuous warm halo that catches every surface and makes the room glow from within. Pendant lights creating the layered warmth and defining zones without physical separation. A muted botanical wallpaper on the end serves as an accent wall bringing the Philippine landscape directly into the room. The organic look is repeated by using the woven Roman blinds that soften the transition between the dining interior and the outside world.

This space belongs to the Philippines - because you feel it in every surface you touch. The materials are native. The craft is local.
